Bought an cheap USB Vag Com for my 1996 A4 (B5), but can't seem to get it to work. Link to product:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/USB-V...spagenameZWDVW

I've installed the drivers correctly and the ross-tech 409.1 program finds the interface and the plug itself lights up, but when I run the odb2 test it says that my car isn't odb2 compatible.
I tried the 311.2 version also, but get the same message.

Any idea what could be wrong ? (besides bying el' cheapo products of ebay ).
Could there be someting wrong with the cars odb2 plug, if so is there an easy way to diagnose this?

Your car is probably not obd2 compatable, use the select button (Select control module in the main menu) and then click on the module you want to access e.g. 01 Engine or 15 Airbags then it should connect.

I believe I tried running the autoscan feature, but it didn't display anything.
Shouldn't it display "OK" if there are no fault codes?

By the way, is there a way to clear the service interval message using this vag com?

Finally figured it out , read which modules that applied to my car at:
    http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/car...ions/a4s4.html

And used this guide to reset the service interval reminder:

I hope you don't mean display 'OK' on the instrument cluster !

Was the ignition on when you tried this ?

Has the computer picked up your car ? Does VAG-COM display your car's information ?

These fleabay cables are prone to not working, there is a group buy on this forum with shareware software, a USB cable and support from Eshrules-Enterprises, all for (I believe) £13.49. I bet you paid that or even more off fleabay. And with that you get no technical support.
