  1. Passat B5 1.8 20V APT engine change

Just changed engine on a B5 passat 1.8 20V APT, everything is okay and the car is working. But I have a few niggles

1: The donar engines sump didn't have an engine oil connector for the dash and we didn't realise till after the engine was in and the job was almost complete. The car works but it warns about oil sensor when you start the car up. There's a lead with 3 holes in it for the connector from the old sump, I assume if I short 2 of the wires the car will think the oil is topped up, any ideas which ones to short?

2: The external heat sensor is now out of whack by about 10-15 degrees, I assume the sensor is now possibly out of it's holding clip and thus hanging too close to the engine?

Any ideas why the sensor would be out of whack, is my assumption correct about it being out of the holding clip possibly and if so where is this sensor located?

    Thanks in advance

I don’t know if you can do that, it is not something I would try. You should drop the subframe and change the sump. The temp sensor is on a clip behind the front bumper in front of the radiator.

Thanks crasher I appreciate your help greatly

Does anyone know if I can or cannot short the wires, I've just spent £2300 on a car that is barely worth that, went from £400 to £700 to £1050 to £1300 and then to £2300 for a new engine. (£550 engine, £270 labour, £220 for clutch kit, cambelt, and some other random new bits)

I am not keen to pay someone to change the sump over.
