    Default Brand new Mk5 TDI, leaking oil – 30-06-2008,12:03 PM
    Hi,

    Took delivery of my new golf TDI yesterday and after 75km it has leaked over 0.5L of oil (and left a LARGE stain on the driveway!). Took it back to the dealer and they said it needs a replacement Crankshaft seal housing (don't even know what this is). Can anyone advise me on the extent of this replacement and whether I would be better off requesting a whole new engine?

    Really disappointed about having an issue like this within the first 24 hours!

    Any help or explanations would be appreciated, Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Horrible to have this happen and even worse on such a new car.

    You could try request a new car, but you have to give the dealer 3 attemps IIRC to fix issues prior to refusing the car.

    I hope you get this sorted and that the dealer is looking after you.

    I would certainly push for them to pay for the drive cleaning.
