Pascal (Dudey Jr has named it Pascal the Peugeot!) is the first diesel I've had & I'm extremely impressed at the economy so I'd go for an oil burner if I was you Malc. I was adamant any CBTD I got had to be diesel to cut fuel costs.

Correct, it seems the XF is on the DEW platform (S-Type, Lincoln LS, etc)

That Jaaaaag was quite nice. 3.0 V6 Turbot Diesel with lots of widdley twiddley bits inside like electric air vents (which will no doubt fail just after the warranty expires) and the gear selector rises out of the centre console like a giant silvery nipple which one twists to instruct the car if you want to go forards or backwards (which no doubt will also fail just after the warranty expires).

Huge car though, bigger than my old A6 Avant, but smooth as silf to drive.

Which leads me on to the Toyota throtle pedal problem. In that Jag I felt electronically divorced from the car whereby the only input I felt I had directly was the steering wheel. It had one of those keyless entry start/stop button jobbies (like VAG also have). Have to say that if it all went haywire like on the toyotas you'd struggle to come to a halt as the gears are via a switch, the ignition is via a button, the throttle via a rheostat (like VAG and even my current old CBTD). It didn't feel like I was driving it directly and I'd be scared of owning an old one.

    Anyway enough off topic ramblings.

Except, this thread is definitely a cafe and doesn't have a late licence as all activity is during the day.

Anyway freaks, as Neil Young once said, "Keep on rocking in the free world".

    I had an mx3. It was a great laugh a 1.8V6.

Trouble is the HT leads cost loads. the couger V6 shared the same leads. Something to do with their length.
