    hi guys,
i'm getting a bit fed up with changing the bulbs in the rear light cluster on my avant and just wondered if any of you have tried led type replacements, more specifically the stop/tail combined type.can you use them without any fault lights appearing on the dashboard?any info on the best type/make to use would be appreciated as i'm LED! to believe that they will last for ages.
    cheers, kip

LED's will make the blown bulb warning come on unless you fit a resistor.

    thanks bez,
when you say they look crap do you mean they aint as bright as standard bulbs?i realise i would still have to change the other bulbs in the future but it seems to be the stop/tail lamps that my car chews up but from looking elsewhere on this forum audi's are pretty hard on the bulbs any way but i guess it's worth it,best motors ever IMHO......

    cheers, kip

Or you can look at complete LED tail lights, not just the bulbs.

If you get LED bulbs with the proper W21 body they will fit unless the LEDs forming the "bulb" shape are too big to fit into the holes on the cluster. However, most of the time LEDs produce very contentrated light and thus look bad in reflector type lights. They're also not bright enough for reverse lights even if you have, say, 30 LEDs in the same bulb.
