Ok, chaps (chapettes) your thoughts please on the following:

I'm getting an MK4 GTI 150 in January and planning on a few mods to push the 200bhp barrier

After some research my plans included the following components:

    • Milltek full exhaust system including sports cat and big bore downpipe
    • K&N Typhoon CAI
    • Revvo Remap
Anyway, these plans were set in stone until i visited a local mod shop recently for a middle box fitted on my current system. While i was there i enquired about my plans and a price. The fella's in here are really sound and they seem to know what theyre talkin about. When i mentioned i was planning on getting a milltek system he replied "Not the best"
I asked him what he meant by the comment and he rekons that the build quality is good but the fact that they are mass produced and 'off the shelf' systems that they are not tailored to each individual car. He told me that their custom made systems are better and also cheaper at £500, which is about £100 cheaper than the milltek.

I then asked about a remap and he quoted me expected gains upto 196bhp which seems like a good figure, slightly less than revvo figures but its ample power to say the least!

They also stock the K&N Typhoon induction kits and told me that they would put me a package together if i decided to purchase all 3! I fealt like i just wanted to hand the cash over there and then (and i havnt even got the car yet!) These guys are really convincing and they've got a nice shop here in St Helens.

But despite all this i feel unsure about the decision mainly because of the fact that names like revvo and milltek have got such a good reputation and would be the better option

I'm not sure what software they run on their remaps but i cant imagine it can be as effective as a Revvo map as they specialise in VAG vehicles, or is 196bhp simply 196bhp or can their be differences in the qulaity of the remap?

Your opinions and experiences would be greatly appreciated please!?
