nice wheels and a very nice motor, but for me it looks wrong on std springs. Deffo gonna do my suspension 1st, particularly since you intimated the supplier has plenty

But ignore me it is after all down to personal taste and thanks for the piccies

I Agree, it does look good but suspension lowering would improve it a fair bit.

I have a 130TDI highline (Black with Black leather) had it remapped to 170bhp about a month ago and have since bought a suspension kit and am planning to buy some new RS4 17" alloys with 225/45 tyres, the alloys are replicas... but i think the only difference is really the weight/ material rather than quality.

Im going for a lowering of no more than 40mm, but im hoping it will look pretty good on them alloys.

    Thanks for your comments guys.

Lowering is a personal thing I guess. My car has sport suspension as standard and still rides higher than some would prefer, but again, this is a personal preference.

Frankly, I've driven lots of lowered/modded cars and for driving on the limit. I agree, they run rings round a standard car, but as mine is used for 'normal' driving, I just don't see the need to lower it.

Some may like the look of a lowered car, but it's just not for me right now. I've had lots of lowered cars in the past, but again, they were great for the occasional blast, but mostly just gave a jiggly ride.

    I'm just getting old, OK!

Nah as you said its personal preference.

Only reason im getting mine lowered is because i think its got the "Comfort" suspension as standard and it just does not give confidence in corners.

Ive not gone for a very sporty kit, but it will obviously deteriorate my ride to some extent, i used to have a 130 sport and thought that was fine.

The OEM tyre size for Golf / Bora on 17" wheels is 225/45 R17. 215/45 R17 seem to be fitted to the Mk3 Golf on 17's..

    Hello mate

Yes, you're right, the correct size is 225/45/17. I have them fitted!

There's a discernable difference in noise and ride quality just by fitting larger wheels/tyres, but this may also be because the tyres I have fitted (Michelin Pilot Sport) are 'Y' rated and have stiffer sidewalls.

    Cheers

    Paul

Yeah you notice a change in ride when you first change the wheels, but you soon forget what the car was like on the old rims. I find that Michelin tyre are among the best for long life and good performance. I have the Primacy's on mine and can't fault them. Well they do the job for me anyway!

Nice wheels and car by the way. Bora looks nice in Black. I have seen those wheels for sale on a well know auction site. They look a good buy.

    Thanks for the comments.

Yes, the wheels are advertised on a well known auction site, which is where mine came from!

They come supplied with the original VAG TUV stickers with the proper VAG part number on them, and are very high quality, so I'm well satisfied. I've even gone as far as buying a 5th one for the spare! They may or may not be OEM, but are nearer original than a set of reps I guess.

I spoke with the guy who's selling them and he bought a lot (like 300 sets!) of wheels direct from VAG in Germany. If you look closely on the listing you can see the stacks of wheels in his warehouse.

By the way, the shine on the paint comes from Dodo Juice Supernatural. I have never seen water bead on paint like this stuff and the finish is brilliant. I got some from www.detailedobsession.co.uk - the guy who runs the site actually uses all the stuff himself and he enters concours competetitions.

    Cheers

    Paul
