I read an article in last weeks Autocar of the potential major shareholder of VW being Porsche. The Autocar article suggested some shake-ups. One being the sell off Lamborghini.

    Wondered what people thought.

Don't think it is a bad idea. Porsche seem to be doing very well.

The CEO of VW for many years is a member of the Porsche family.. And VW does build the Porsche SUV.. Not to sure they are that far apart but VW is bigger than Porsche.. Not to sure it would not be the other way around.. But nothing ever turns out like you think..

    Snowdance,
According to Autocar, Porsche are pushing for 28% stake. You are right the VW group are massive Porsche being part of it by the fact they are a shareholder I guess, but on this case Porsche would be the major shareholder.

I had heard that a few years back.. If they buy the shares plus all those shares owned by the family members odds are they would have some control of the company.. Beside having a family member running VW.. I for one do think its not a bad idea.. Porsche is not known for building any thing but the best.. Adding their part to the VW lines can not hurt..

Here the most common engine in the New Jetta's is the 2.5, 5 cyl. counterbalanced, twin chain driven cam, 20 valve engine with a copy of the Lamborghini V10 head.. So it is clear VW is using the people and know how from their other companys..

Agreed, Porsche is a very class motor.

I wonder what would happen to Lamborghini though. It says the Italians would love to have it Italian owned again.

Ferrari are doing well at present. You never know!!!
