    OK, heres the scenario...

SE with a standard radio that plays MP3. Where playing an MP3 disc gives lots of useful information on the radio display: Artist, song, album, track name etc.

With a big playlist of songs on a disc with various artists etc. I want to know who is singing without keep taking my eye off the road to look down at the radio or I am maybe tired of looking at the MFD display.

So I turn on the 'Audio' option on the computer toggle thingy.

Now though, I only get the track and directory number on the MFD display. So here's my question....

Is there any way to show the same information that is on the radio (track, singer, album etc) with Audio turned ON on MFD??

    All the best Mark

    Hi Mark
I don't have the MFD on my SE , but the with 2.0 tdi there's no time to look anywhere but the road ahead
When I test drove a 1.9 and then a 2.0, I was very surprised how much difference the extra '0.1' made

As far as I know, not with the standard RCD 300 or 500 radios (which is what I think you've got).

I've heard a rumour that the DNS910 (or some combination of words and letters meaning "£1000 aftermarket replacement VW SatNav System that's not standard on any Passat") does indeed transfer file info to the MFD.

Want irritating? The iPod Link cable behaves the same way. As far as the MFD's concerned, I've got a CD changer with 6 CDs and 500+ tracks on, and *NO INFORMATION ON WHAT I'M LISTENING TO*.

Which was why I, ultimately, changed to a non-OEM stereo for £250 odd all in....

Steve: yes you're right about 1.9 v 2.0. JTW made the same point well some weeks back. The 1.9 is actually nothing like as quick as the 1.9 B5.5 130 I had previous.

But the bank said Toys or speed, can't have both. Last time I went for speed rather than toys (Trendline v. Highline) and tended to regret it as 90% of my driving is in a straight line with the CC set to 70MPH/2000 RPM.

    Time will tell.

JTW: Absolutely right on the IPOD connect, very frutrating. no better than an audio CD. It's a good job they chucked it in with the car. I only got it because I asked for it in the negotiation on price. Didn't even have an IPOD at the time. I just wanted one because the Mrs. has one in her Golf.

So I had to buy No.2 Daughter a new IPOD so I could have her old one for the car.

Automotive ecomomics ehhh. Never to be found in the same sentence as 'Common Sense'.

Seems like a fair swap to me

    (I'm so very sorry )

I take it a new Stereo is out of the question? I fitted my Clarion myself and saved a bundle - it was rather easy to be honest and it lets me control the ipod menu quite happily

The 1.9 is only 105 bhp.

The 2.0 is 140 bhp, therefore I suppose it would have been a bit of a nonsense to have a 1.9 chucking out 130.

Mind you, I think Ford and Vauxhall manage things like that

I can only assume that the 1.9 was slotted in as an entry level type model to encourage more take up - or for fleet buyers...

Still think they should have put in the 6sp box though.

I suppose they have to put a bit of 'clear blue water' because the various spec levels to justify them, and also obviously to justify the price differentials.
