Not sure if 1.4 TFSI is available on the golf mk5.

For other VW subs like Audi and Seat.

    Do you mean TSI?

As yet i'm unsure if it'll be the 140 or 170 TFSI i get.

I bought an 07 1.4 GT TSI (170) last week and so far im impressed.

According to the computer I'm getting 45-48mpg on motorways and 38-40mpg urban driving when taking it easy.

I've not long came out of a Seat Leon Cupra R 225 so it's not as fast as that was but certainly fast enough and very impressive for a 1.4!

Handling is good.....not sure if it's the same for all MK5 Golf's but you can feel the steering stiffen up in the bends. I also have the optinal 18" Charleston alloy's which helps with grip in the corners.

Brakes are excellent and I'm loving the burble from the twin exhaust and the whine of that supercharger!

I did have to visit VW the day after I got it because of an engine management light. Turned out to be a broken wire (Or so they told me).

    Hi,

Yours is the TSI model & not the TFSI model.

Good fuel consumptions you have there, especially the motoroway one.

I'm pretty sure that there is no such thing as a 1.4 TFSI and it is infact a 1.4 TSI. As quoted from the latest Golf brouchure "Incorporated into the TSI engines is FSI technology, whereby fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber under high pressure"

It wouldn't make sense to offer a 1.4 TSI engine with 140 & 170 bhp and then to also offer a 1.4 TFSI engine which produces the same power.

You can get a MK5 Golf with a 2.0 TFSI engine - Turbocharged with FSI technology.

You can also get a MK5 Golf with a 1.4 TSI engine - Turbocharged & Supercharged with FSI technology.

I'm about to drive my MK5 Golf TSI to the chippy because I'm bloody starving! Just waiting for full time in this Spain V Italy game!
