I’ve been trying to sell my Audi A3 2.0 TDI 2005 on autotrader.co.uk for about 2 weeks now. Although the vehicle is reasonably priced there simply is no demand ( hardly get any calls. ) The car is valued at about 11 K.

I think the deteriorating economy conditions at the moment are causing people to keep their quid.

So I am wondering about the pace at which I should keep reducing the car’s price ? Aggressively i.e chop off 300 quid every couple of days , or stick with the asking price for longer… ?

How long should it be before I realize the price should be heftily chopped ?

Difficult one really and not dissimilar to selling/buying a house. At the end of the day, and I am assuming you,re buying another car, all that matters is the difference between your old car and the one you wish to purchase. This is difficult when you are buying second-hand as you don't know what you are going to pay until you see it.

Like all things regardless to what we like the car is only worth what someone is willing to pay. You have to way up the cost of continually advertising the car in Autotrader too.

So look at what you need for the car drop to an amount slightly above (buyer always wants something off) and wait

A word of caution to people , I bought my next car without having sold my current one , one of the boldest mistakes I've ever made..
