    Hi all,

I've recently bought a GT TDI 140 and I am having problems with the drivers side electric window.

I was driving and some water from the roof dripped through the window, and went straight into the controls for the windows (the water went NOWHERE else, just directly into the switches for the windows ARGGHHH). Since then, the one touch window close does not work. I have to hold the button down to close the window, rather than press it once to close it. The passenger side window is fine. On occasions the window does close with one touch, but it then re-opens automatically.

Is this caused by the water getting into the electrics? If so, any ideas how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I had a similar problem with the one touch close on my 140 gt tdi that went on for a good six months before the dealer finally fixed it under warranty. Like yours it was the drivers window. If the window wasn't fully open & I went to close it with 1-touch, more often than not it would wind itself all the way down. The 1 touch close meachanism then wouldn't work & I'd have to keep finger on button. The dealer replaced motors, switches.... etc. Sick of the problem I pulled the manager & a technician outside when they'd 'just fixed' it to show them the problem again. Turns out it was the door skin on the outside being to close to the window and causing friction as the window wound up- safety mechanism triggered the window to go down, as if something was trapped in it. Never happened again since & left me a lot happier!!

Hope this gets your problem resolved...

Now though, my bonnet release catch is cattled.... https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=39590

Thanks for that mate, much appreciated.

That definitely sounds like the problem I am having. It may just be coincidence that the water hit the controls yesterday, as they do work, its just the one touch that is knackered on the drivers side.

I'll take it back to the dealers tomorrow and mention what you have told me.

    Thanks again mate,

hopefully mine won't take 6 months to get fixed!
