Have not read the other thread.

Personally, I think the PD150 is the better of the two.

An engine swap of this nature is a huge undertaking, you will need to also swap the wiring looms, instrument cluster (assuming it will fit in the mk4), ecu and you may have to have some engine mountings fabricated.

    Read1976,

Just so you know, that A8Tech blokey has worked for Audi (man & boy) and knows his stuff, also listen to Crasher, he may look like a tabby cat and can be a bit grumpy sometimes but he also knows lots.

However, there is only one Troll !

I think the point is, stick with the PD150 engine already in the car.

Have you done any re-search regarding the infamous PD150 engine camshaft failure problem? That could be your issue. Still expensive but much cheaper and easier than an engine swap.

the 1.9 is a much stronger engine. I find that my Bora 130 Pd can keep up (and match) the new Seat Leon FR TDI which is the same engine as the 170 golf. So the 150PD should outperform the 140PD all day, plus it doesnt make sense why you would want to change the engine?

not as simple as it sounds mate... keep the 150 is i were you.
