Now I have to either press the "Media" button on the RNS510 display, or hit the "rewturn" touchscreen icon on the top right of the screen to see it. Can anyone tell me what happens when they select a track from the list? Does it auto switch to the track playing details, or am I imagining things? I fear that every time I go back to the dealer, I lose another bit more functionality that would otherwise be unnoticeable if I asn't such a pedant!

it doesnt autoswitch it stays in the folder you selected the file from

It is not a normal kit, but operates on RSAP, which stands for Remote SIM Access Protocol, which simply means that it does not actually use your mobile for sending & receiving, but is actually a "phone" in itself, & uses it's own module to do the send/receive stuff. All it does is latch (via Bluetooth) into your phone's SIM card & use all the service procider's details & your contact number lists, which means all you see on your phone on the service side is a little "X", & you cannot use your phone (not even Bluetooth audio) whilst it's hooked in. Most of the older phones do not have this RSAP facility, so cannot be registered on the Premium system. Only the cheaper version of the VW kit does that, & is not a true RSAP setup like the Premium.
Hope I'm not telling you how to suck eggs, but not even a lot of the telco shops in Aiustralia understand the difference!

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to find out why the little MF sterirng wheel button ("star") on the Tiguan doesn't activate voice control like it does on the Touareg. Anyone got any clues?? VW are silent on the issue, but still charge the same A$2,500 for the damn thing as they do for the same kit in the Touareg. This Premium kit thing is certainly not VW's finest hour!

yeah man im pretty sure i got the premium kit... i payed 500€ more for it than i would for the cheap version... and i got the phone keyboard integrated into the dash (passat cc) thats only available with the premium system. i also suspect that if we who are having trouble with the connection were to have the cheap system we would be able to connect our phones no problem seeing its a standard bluetooth hookup

    regards

Anyone tried with an iPhone running OS 3.0? Does the music streaming over Bluetooth work?

Not sure if mine has bluetooth, Sport 170 TDI.

Will be working towards full iPhone compatibility of Tiguan, navigation, phone, music, was not interested in the DVD navigation system, seems primative compared to iPhone, though do want to hack the system and retrofit rear camera....

well heres the thing. if youve got premium bluetooth you cant stream music to the car stereo. premium bluetooth works via rSAP (remote sim acces profile) so it basically takes over your phones sim card, your phone is rendered inactive during the pairing.

if you have the normal bluetooth kit than yes you can stream audio (bluetooth audio) to your cars stereo, since the standard bluetooth kit works like bluetooth headphones or something similar.

you can check if your cars got bluetooth at all in the menu of the on board computer (between the speedo and the rev-counter) just slide to the left or right there should be a subcategory for bluetooth if its installed in your car.

My 170 TDI Sport doesn't have Bluetoof ((

Have a work-round of plugging iPhone into AUX-IN socket at the moment, so have choons, but the RDS 510 has capacity to stream in Bluetooth stereo and this function can be turned on, but I think it's missing the Bluetooth module - tried with a couple of phones and can't see any the VW device.

I'm not a big in car phone user, research scientist by trade, so don't need to or bother answering phone calls when driving, so only want music and sound from my iPhone running OS 3.0 which has support for Bluetooth stereo.

So not interested in the premium kit, would never buy a Nokia in the future. Just want the Bluetooth box that fits on back of the RDS 510.

Can I get this bit as separate OEM part, minus all the cables and phone holder and aerial stuff? Anyone got part number and source?

    Cheers.

PS 170 TDI pretty sweet and rapid

Might get the multifunction buttons on steering wheel though, think they just snap on the existing wheel, can remove the current place holders fairly easy...

when he gave me the list of compatible models, i couldnt believe what i was reading
a bunch of old nokia and siemens models.
i sent an email to the VW in Portugal and in Germany.
i cant believe how come VW cant be updated in this issue, and im very disappointed with the brand.

why cant they release an bluetooth software update ?????
I have recently purchased a Tiguan and paid extra for the Sat Nav and Premium Bluetooth, was shocked at the dealers when I was unable to pair my HTC Tytn II, was even more shocked when given the short list of phones that the dealer said MIGHT work with the car, thats where they left me, almost went as far to say "Tough luck"
Absolutely shocked and totally disheartened at how VW can be so un interested in this matter, it seems that the i-Phone and the Blackberry will also not work, oh well I suppose VW think that these aren't very popular phones!

If anyone can suggest a solution to the i-Phone issue I would be very happy, obviously VW can't be bothered......

Hi, I'm new to this but have the same problem with my Tiguan and the PREMIUM mobile service. Originally had Nokia 6111 which worked fine when I bought it. Got a Samsung G600 unaware of issue and have battled with everyone since! My wife's old 6230i works fine but even a recommended Sony ericsson C902 has failed and now I am offered a Nokia 6220 - ANy idea if that will work?

Cheek of garage will provide alternate kit - if I pay! Have complained to Motor Industry Codes of practice to wind it up further.
