    Hi all

I have a mk4 gttdi 115 pd, and (same on most VAG i believe) when you unlock the car with the central locking, then don't open the doors, the car locks itself after about 30 seconds.

Is it possible to turn this feature off? I was in the middle of nowhere when my friend locked the keys in the boot due to this! Anyway, the RAC fixed that, but its the sort of thing i can see happening again if im not careful!

I believe there may be some sort of way to do it by putting the key in the ignition and pressing the key fob twice etc, but not sure how?

    Any thoughts much appreciated!

your car should not do that, if you unlock it and don't open the doors then it relocks itself, once you open the doors it wont relock itself, this is ment to stop you locking the keys in it, also you car should know if the key fob is inside the car and wont lock itself. i think you are able to reprogram it so that it wont do it and you can change it so that you only have to press the unlock button once and all the doors will open.

yeah thats it if you unlock it and dont open any doors within 30 secs it relocks it self, but once you have opened a door and reshut its fine.
i also press unlock once and drivers door opens press again and they all open i think you can change this setting

It only knows the keys are in the car if they are in the ignition.
