Can anybody help me with starting issues, my car starts fine from cold, first turn of the key, however when hot it's another story.

    It starts and dies immediately, it's a 2002 1.9 Tdi, 115 bhp.

The car will start eventually and once starts will hesitate for a couple of seconds and then is fine.

I've replaced water temp sensor, fuel temp sensor and relay 109.

I've also noticed getting poor mpg only around 30.

    Does anybody have any ideas??

No, none at all, I had it at the dealership and there's nothing showing. It runs perfect when cold and seems to be fine once started?

Who replaced the timing belt ? Was it a mark and pry job or they used locking tools ? It looks that the static timing is too retarded and when cold the glow plugs and the advanced/prolonged injection helps the engine start easy....Is the immobiliser light on when the key is in the ignition ?

You will have to set the engine at TDC and lock the cam and make shure everything lines up. If it does, then i suspect the crankshaft sensor might be on its last legs/duff.

Thanks for your help with this, I'm probably being totally stupid here, but would that have shown on diagnosis or are they just set to work? ie won't throw a fault code if still working but not accurate?

Had it checked today, timings fine, but one thing that did come up was fault code 18072

    Injection electrical malfunction?

Can anybody advise as was told it was nothing important?
