Many apologies for posting in wrong forum, but I don't think this is a problem specific to my model. I am going on long journey tomorrow and was hoping to get an answer, but the pre-95 forum seems to have about 5% of the posts this one gets!

Greetings all, please excuse if simple questions but this is my first car!

It's a 94 GL 2.0, and it's been sat still for 6 months. Had to jump start, that's done and it drives fine except the temp light keeps coming on. It flashes constantly sometimes, and others it doesn't. Constantly seems to run at 90 degees, bang in the middle of the "safe" part of the guage. I checked the coolant and it seemed low, but I cannot see where the level is against the min/max markers. Should the coolant come into the part where the reservoir widens out, or is that for the liquid to expand?

I assume that 90 degrees is a safe level, so is there any other reason the light would flash?

On a lesser note, the windows are a bit odd. Front passenger opens with driver door switch, but not with passenger switch. Meanwhile back window makes a noise but does not come down, and then seems to drop. I assume the passenger switch is broken and the rear is off-track, is that right? Is it easy to take the back door panel off and put back on track, as it sees to drop down and I don't want the car getting nicked/rained in!

Sorry for long post, any help would be much appreciated!
    Ta

A lot of the time coolant level goes up to where top and bottom halves of reservoir join, not sure on yours, but maybe this looks plausible?

Windows sound as you say, soon find out upon investigation.

    Thanks very much Justin.

It appears that the level is fine, however the light is still flashing, and the temp is at 90 degrees. Is there any other reason the light would flash?

88-92 degrees C is a normal operating temperature for an engine. I wonder whether the temp sensor should be replaced just in case?

The only other reason maybe is if there is an airlock in the system which passes the sensor from time to time. Just a guess that though.

I guess you could try draining and refilling. Is there a bleed nipple on a top hose somewhere? Try bleeding any air out of the system if so.

    It's a Mercedes Benzzzz though
