My Golf has now stopped beeping when I leave my lights on, which means I have left my lights on a couple of times now.

I don't trust my memory to keep turning them off - any ideas why I'm not beeping anymore?

    Much obliged!

Do your interior lights work as they should ?

If not you probably have a faulty door lock module which houses a microswitch for the interior lights.

If the lights do work then you may have the same problem as me where the buzzer itself is dead. Look in the vagcom subforum for someone near you who could scan the car. The scan will pick up any faults with the locking and it would also be a good idea to run some output tests to check the operation of the buzzer.

Also does your chime / buzzer work with low fuel, low outside temp etc ? Mine doesn't.

it did last time, about 360 miles ago. Got another 60 miles or so before I can check again. Can't remember when the light beep last worked, since it's summer and I've not been driving much after 10pm. Have noticed it recently because it's been raining and a colleage pointed out I'd left my lights on.

Maybe I'll have a better idea in a few days when I can test the fuel chime?

Well, I knew it! I went and left my lights on all night last night, from about 5pm til about 8am this morning!! Thankfully I have RAC homestart and am now on the road again. Battery was load tested to make sure I didn't finish it off (car is 6.5 years old) but thankfully battery's still good.

Anyhoo, RAC man confirmed I have a problem with my door switch. Other half can sort this out for me but wonders if anyone knows the part number for the door switch, or a website that would list part numbers so he can get prices?

(Needless to say was told off for not checking everything's turned off and told not to rely on beeps! No promises!!)

    Cheers all
    Ange

Sadly it is not as simply as just replacing what you would think just a simple pin switch.

You actually need to replace the door lock module which contains the switch. Tell your other half to have a look online for how-to's on this (vwvortex or passworld etc) as a lot of these problems can be caused by a dry soldered joint.

i had the same problem,no lights on beeper, also had no interior light, door light ect.to cut a long story short the fecker locked me out during the week with keys in the ignition unlocked, put keys in ignition closed the door a few moments later i heard that horrible central locking noise as i turned my back to get me bucket and sponge i just knew wot had happened.sorted on friday afternoon.exactly the same as described, pin nos 7 loose in circuit board.
from wat i can gather this happened because when i unlocked and put key in ignition, the door was never registered as being open,so she locked herself again

fecker of a job to do,well the door panel/window/doorlock stripping and building now ive no deadlocking ie car can be opened from the inside when locked.

saying that i dont know if it was working in the first place.any ideas, will vag.com pick up the bad door lock
