    Hello all,

Sadly me first post on this forum (and any forum ever in fact) is a slightly negative one. I have come here to ask for some help!

My wife and I have a Audi A4 Cabrio 2.5 tdi. We have had it for just under 3 years and the car is an 05 plate with just under 26k on the clock.

Up until recently we have had trouble free motoring, however a slight problem has raised it's head and from my little use of the "search" button (with my sons help) seems like it may have been experienced before.

The car has recently started to suffer from severe cluctch judder, not all the time, just some of the time. We have taken it to Audi as the car is still under warranty, however Audi say that this conveniently is not covered by the warranty so will cost me £1100 to get fixed.

After talking to others I was recommended to come on here and get some advice as it seems to be an inherent problem with the audis and not something I should be forking out for on a newer car. I have heard a rumour of there being a recall but have no facts to back this up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Tony a long and suffering mechanic.

Hello what problem did Audi find that was going to cost £1100 ? clutch judder could be faulty engine /gearbox
mountings -clutch assy.- oil on clutch plate
I had same problem previously on an old Audi 80 TDI
and it improved for periods of time by spraying WD 40
    into hole in bell housing
I expect the oil may have been lubricating the spigot shaft
allowing disc to slide better on splines but it did improve
    problem

There are no recalls on clutch problems that i know of.There is the possibility that there may be oil on the clutch causing it to judder,if that is the case, then it comes under warranty.
