Hello everyone, sorry to say but im a newbie and this is my first post.....

Im looking at buying an A4 9 approx 2001/2002 ( newer shape ), 2.0SE petrol or 1.9SE Diesel.. preferably with the bose Sound system and with approx 100-150k on the clock.
My question to you guys is do either of these cars have any niggles/faults to look out for or any well known A4 problems in general...... any help advise would be most welcome

    Cheers all

    Shane

At that mileage u need to consder the fact that you will have to get serviced, change timing belt, water pump (preferbaly) and the alternator belt all for about £500... otherwise very reliable good clean cars, with strong engines... but do take care of it to keep it going.

I forgot to check the wipers when I got mine

So do check they work, luckily my one just needed a new wiper mechanism thing as it had corroded pretty bad inside.

Problems with central locking etc crop up a bit so check all the electricals on the doors are working as the wires can break.

How much you got to spend ?

Thanks for your replies... I have kinda took into consideration the price of a service at a audi garage ( approx £300 ) or get a few prices at some independant audi garages. My main dealer was really helpful and told me that the 2.0 petrol timing belt needs replacing at 110K ( £512 )... gave a few prices on services ( £319-£430 ) depending on the service and even gave me details of the cars service history ( I gave her an example of one i went to see ).... athough its history ended in 2004 on their systems.
Ive been looking to spend very little to be honest.... most A4's i have been looking at are only £4000 but have milages of between 102000 and 140000

No idea... however (correct me if i am wrong) i've heard that petrol engines in audis are quite thirsty, with the petrol prices and everything, you mite wana consider a diesel mate... i used to own 1.8tspart alfa romeo 156... got to say the 1.9tdi has much better economy, and the torque in immense compared to petrol cars... love it as most my traveling is on the motorways.

Forget the bose. It's a pain if you have a speaker fail or want to upgrade. See incar entertainment forum.

    Hi,

Word of advice whatever you do don't buy an A4 with a multi-tronic gearbox.

I have a 2001 2.0SE with multi- tronic and the car keeps jerking on take off, need a new box. I have 95,000 miles on the clock. You will see what I mean if you read the related threads.

Apart from that it is a sound car.
