Alarm keeps going off when locking

Hi all i own a 02 passat my alarm has just been sounding for the past 2 hours it was reading on the dash board that the bonnet was open so iv opened and closed it and light went out but alarm is still going for it iv had this before with it and it is starting to wind me up as next door have a new baby any advice PLEEEEEEEEEEEEESA

my estate too sheepdog,washer pipe had blown off back of nozzle and water ran down wire to lock switch, caused enough current to track across to set off the alarm but not enough to light the boot I think. short term by removing the trim I unplugged the switch wire on the catch which stopped the 2am alarm calls.
Interestingly a new latch/switch assembly was only about £16 from the dealer and they said they have a good turnover of this part. £16 isnt much when it comes to genuine vw parts so could it be an embarracement price?
