A4 2.5 V6 TDI Avant SE estate buying advice

Good evening all,

I'm wondering if you knowledgable chaps could give me some pointers on what to check/look for on the above model please?

Originally I was looking at viewing an S-Line estate with same engine but it had an auto box in it. Now from reading some old posts on here some members say to avoid the Multitronic auto box at all costs but this particular one said it had a Steptronic auto box. Is it one and the same thing?

Anyway, I've disregarded that one for now as I've seen an Avant SE estate with a 6 speed manual box (which I'd prefer), so I'm looking for any buying advice you could give me please, especially on the overall reliability of them. It's an early 2004 model and has the 120kw engine (163hp?). It's on at £13k and has done 83k miles (and is also LHD).

I have a 2004 2.5tdi 180bhp quattro SE Avant auto (tiptronic).

The engine seems pretty strong to me, and am not aware of any issues. I had been told by the Audi garage to espect it to use oil, but in the 12 months I've had it, I've found this to not be the case.

MPG is not as good as I was expecting, 43mpg is the best I've achieved, normally its around 35mpg.

Cambelt is expensive to change, so its worth checking it been done, cos its due around the 80k mile mark.

£13k sounds a bit pricey. I paid less for my Quattro version 12 months ago.
