    First of all hello all

I'm new here... a company car driver that currently drives an A3 2.0TDI SE and will be changing it in approximately six months time.

It's a car I inherited from someone and so far I've loved it, great car, good spec etc.

I downloaded an Audi brochure for the A3 before Christmas to take a look at the newest A3 and what spec it has etc and it looked great, pretty much the same as the 05 plate I drive now.

This afternoon I downloaded the latest brochure to see if the spec has changed and oh has it changed! The best model I can get on my grade is the SE model, and I can't believe how much they've stripped out of the spec!

    - no cruise control
    - no auto lighting/wipers
    - no interior lighting pack
    - back to 16" alloys from 17"

I just had to join up here and have a mini-rant!

My alternatives to the A3 include the Golf GT Sport, so I reckon if I head over to the VW sections I'll be able to get some good info there.

Apologies for starting on a whinge, just couldn't help myself!

We get a small allowance for options, about £520 if I choose the A3 Sportback.

The company says it is reviewing the car list every six months, so all being well, they might look at the new Audi offering and increase this allowance.

I did notice that though Audi seem to have drastically reduced the spec for the SE from the June brochure, the price has also dropped approximately £1200.

Doesn't seem that much different from the standard spec then.

Just different alloys, armrest, 4 spoke multi-function steering wheel and the Driver information system.

They seem to have shunted some of the kit onto the Sport, which now looks the better choice of the two.

I looked across the extras and options list and there is very little now standard on any of the models, they seem to have stripped the specs right down.

if can get the Sport, it looks like a good choice.

You also get a choice of alloys like i have never seen on a new car before.

Something like 6 different types that are a no cost option. Not sure if this still applies to the facelift model though.

I must admit I didn't notice in the brochure the option of different alloys at no extra cost, will have to take another look!

I have the 17" standard sport alloys which look very nice and are extremley easy to clean. No small corners for the dirt to get into:

    Oh and it's debadged.
