Hi All
I hope you can advise. My '99 TDi Bora has randomly decided not to start in a morning.
I had taken it to a dealership at first, thinking that it was the Imobiliser, but they replaced the Starter Motor (Jan this year), it was fine until about april, when it wouldnt start, it went back to the garage and they said it was the air mass meter, which they replaced (just to point out at this stage, I know nothing about cars, so have to bow to the superior knowledge of the technicians at the garage).

The day after i had collected it from the garage after they replaced the air mass meter, it wouldnt start again!.

I then broke down away from home and the AA said it was a drain on the battery, so i had that replaced thinking it was old. However days later after changing the battery, it wouldnt start again. I've had my normal mechanic look at it and he couldnt find the fault, he had an auto electrician look at it and he couldnt find the problem. The garage had it for 4 days to see if this drain would occur whilst they had it. However they then called me to say it was the alternator. By now i was a little sceptical, having already spent more on the car than it was worth! I tried a few checks of my own, not locking it, disconnecting the boot light, taking out certain fuses etc, but couldnt find the problem and for at least a month, she has started everytime........until this morning.

I turn the key and it clicks, but nothing, we checked the battery and its about 11.2v, which i believe is not enough to start the engine??

Does anyone have any ideas at all? I was convinced it was the central locking that was draining it, having not locked it and it starting for a month every day. The only thing thats changed is the weather......!!!

Thanks in advance.......

H
