Hi, first post on this site

Have just bought an A3 sportback (07 plate) with a fitted phone cradle situated on the dash.

Is there a way of accessing the phone book or dialling out etc, other than using the phone itself, or do I have to get a multifunctional steering wheel and a dedicated holder for the phone (K800i). The manual is not very clear on the subject!

The only way I can get the thing to work at present is via Bluetooth, using the car system as a headset. But that still means I have to dial out & answer calls via the handset.

    Any info gratefully received. Thanks.

Ring audi parts and check the compatability of your phone.
Also check the firmware version ofyour phone against the recommended audi phone list.

Audi cradles are only available for a few older phones. I link my blackberry to the kit using bluetooth. I also have steering wheel controls that allow me to dial out, accept calls etc.

HI, I have an 05 with a cradle and multifunction.

You can connect the phone via cradle or bluetooth but you need the multifunction steering wheel to access the phone, if the phone has sim access profile or "rSAP".

The cradle does allow you to store numbers into it and then use voice commands. However my phone is an old Nokia so not sure what the newer cradles are like.
