    Dear All,
I have a Golf MK3 2-door Golf GTi with electric windows. The driver side window suddenly stopped working. I took this weekend to take a closer look.

The symptoms are that when I wish to open the window I can hear a click shortly followed by another and the window does not wind down! I suspect the motor is dead but to verify that I decided to take a closer look.

After an hour struggling with it, I eventually managed to get the door panel off. There appears to be 5-bolts holding the motor to the door panel. Considering the window is still up, I was reluctant to remove the 5th bolt - worried just in case the glass fell? Is that the right way to remove the motor? I do have a Haynes manual but the graphics in that are quite poor.

Perhaps somone would kindly give me instructions on how to take the motor out to then replace it with a new one assuming the motor is faulty? I did not want a situation where the glass could not be put back in if I forced out the motor by removing all 5-bolts.

Of course I am open to *any* suggestions if the symptoms I describe do not indicate a motor problem. It sounds jammed or busted from the diagnosis I have done.

I have left the door panel off for the time being and am driving the car so if anyone can help me save a lots of ££'s to fix the problem I would gladly appreciate it.

    In anticipation and kind regards,
