I have just been quoated for a standard Replacement Aerial for my Passat Estate by my local VW Dealer the following prices.
    Base Part £75.81
    Whip Part £53 .01
Total of £128.82 for a Car Antenna. I am stunned at this price.!!!
I know it has a built in amp, but I can by a Hi Fi Amp for this price.
Can anyone tell me different please or provide an alternative solution.
    Regards Richard

£35 for base, £17 for whip.

Your dealer is charging a lot more than mine did.

Thankyou Snapdragon, your link and costs confirmed.
These prices I can live with.
    Many Thanks (again) Richard

I bought a whip on ebay a while back.... Cost about a tenner in euro too.

When it arrived though there was a big note to say " To replace your stolen whip "

Made me all warm and fuzzy to know that it isnt just me that has mine nicked all the time

Some bugger "borrorwed" my whip aerial not so long ago.
Today i went to local scrappie and aquired new whip aerial for 93p!! It came off a quite mangled peugot. Bloke said it should have been a couple of quid but i only had 93p so he called it quits. Fits perfectly and i've got all my radio channels back. Never forget your local car scrapper.

To update you all I purchased from vagparts a "genuine replacement" as per Snapdragons post, at a total cost of £66.
It returned my radio reception to normal.
I also traced an amplified replacement made by "Beru" a top manufacturer at Eurocarparts at £22, but i could not get a proper description all it said was "it was a replacement for a Golf mk1V and it is amplified".
The Beru site just displayed a fancy modern looking unit, too advanced for an old codger like me.
Hope this helps somebody to avoid these ridiculous dealer prices.
