    Has anyone here done this ?
    I was wondering if the wiring were already in place making it a simple job (ie, change the switch, add a relay, change the grill and fit the lamps ), or if it is more arduous than that...

    Cheers

    Very doubtful the wiring will be there, but thats not to stop any determined person sticking the fogs in and wiring them up to a switch on the dashboard - most cars have some blanks in the centre bit at the top. I have about 3 I know of. I suspect you'll end up earthing the fogs on the chassis in the engine bay and having the live switched in the dash, perhaps utilising some of the head unit wiring, unless the fogs are pretty power intensive and need their own separate fused power feed from the battery?

    You'd be surprised at how many times the wires are already there.

    I used a write up on www.clubb5.com and posted some observations in my own post here http://www.passatworld.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=181727

    Good luck

    Excellent stuff. I know what you mean about the wiring - VWs used to have everything cabled and ready to plug in. Unfortunately I don;t have my Passat yet (couple of weeks to go...) so I can't check it, but reading the instructions and your note it all sounds promising. Been quote £129 for a pair of fogs, pair of grills, and a headlight switch which doesn't sound too bad.

    Another question - what are these ?

    The net optic trim went in without a hitch, as did the W8 light
    Cheers

    Parts I used;

    Ok, parts I used.

    3B7 941 699A - Left fog lamp x 1
    3B7 941 700A - Right fog lamp x 1
    3B0 853 665L B41 - Left grille piece x 1
    3B0 853 666L B41 - Right grille piece x 1
    N 013 9571 - Screw x 6
    N 905 353 01 - Speed nut x 6
    1J0 972 722 - Plug x 2
    000 979 133A - Terminal Pin x 2

    I paid a little over £100 for everything (+VAT) The lamps were £42 ish each. I had to buy wires, relays, fuses, "euro" switch and connectors too.

    Net optic trim is the trim found in the Sport edition Passats. Aluminium trim with a gold/bronze lattice effect;

    Similar to this;

    The W8 dome light is the overhead light from a W8 edition Passat. It has two red LED down lighters which cast a nice glow over the centre console and gearstick area;

    Voilà;

    <cheesy advert>

    I get all my OEM parts from www.vagparts.com.

    Why not send them an email (Martyn & Alan are the guys that usually answer) with your requirements, mention where you got their information from and see what sort of price they'll offer you.

    That's where I get my parts too

    Although recently, they have not been too competitive versus a ******* I'll send them your list of parts and see what they say.

    Did you miss the light switch off your list ?

    Cheers

    I did leave it off, sorry. There's an ever-rolling Group Buy on www.clubb5.com or you can try contacting Rus at www.dubstop.com to see if he's shipping to the UK again.

    I bought mine from Rus and it arrived a good few days sooner than the stuff coming direct from Germany. The attractive exchange rate is a plus too.
