Yeah my cruise control has stopped working, pulling back the lever brings up the speed indicator with "--" can't set the speed or activate it at all.

Is this a common problem or a one off?

Luckily I'm still under warranty so hopefully it will be repaired for free.

What happens when you press the button in at the side or move the lever up and down? Any warnings or anything like that?

Ok after driving today I can confirm that it has not completely died, but has become intermittent! I've found out that you have a better chance of activating CC in 6th than any other gear.

I noticed the problem the other day when toodling through some towns and villages, when I use the CC to control my speed (40,30 etc) but would not activate at these speeds when in 4th.

Moved up to 60mph in 6th had no problems then!

Pressing any button or moving the stalk in any direction has no effect, it just will not activate.

I've also had this problem when the CC has been deactivated (small numbers are displayed on the dash) and not re-activating when the button is pressed or the stalk pulled back etc.

Sounds like one of your chips has had its chips....

Shouldn't take the dealer long to fix it.

I've had a similar problem on a Touran a couple of years ago. Any problem with my passat so far.

On my Touran this has been fixed by my dealer without any problem. I've been told that they have just changed the lever.

    Hope this helps
