    Hello One and All,

Finally got my car back from Audi after them sorting all the problems that I had with the car when I picked it up.
One of the things they wre doing was replacing the front grille as it was cracked, only a small crack but thought I'd get it changed anyway.
When I picked the car up I noticed that the gap between the bonnet and the bumper was quite large, as in I could fit my finger tip comfortably in it!! It wasn't like that before, and I really can't be ***** putting it back into them again.

So, how easy is it to adjust the height of the front bumper?

It is definately the bumper as there is a gap between the headlights and the bumper too!

    Cheers in advance guys

It is a lot of work, it means removing the cover and releasing the impact absorber mounts and lifting the front panel up and then test fitting the cover and is a bit hit and miss, often taking a few attempts to get it right.

Hmm... sounds like a job for the numb nuts that got it wrong in the first place then!!

Can you confirm that the Audi specs for the gap are 4.5mm +- 0.5mm??

Going to go mental at them tomorrow!!

    Crasher,

Why would they have adjusted the impact absorber? All they were doing was replacing the front grille not the entire bumper! Is that required to replace the grille?

    Cheers

    4.5-mm +/-0.5-mm.

There are adjusters on the impact absorbers that move when you take off the cover.

    Hey Crasher,

Had the car down at Audi yesterday lunch time and the head monkey is saying that there isn't any adjustment he could do!!

On the attahced image I have a problem with gaps A and B. They are both around 11mm. Under the headlights there is a gap of around 5mm at the centre of the bumper. The side gaps are fine.

They're apparantly going to get back to me tomorrow!! Wonder what they'll try and fob me off with now. Sigh!!

I would delete that attachment if I were you; Stuart may get grumpy about an ELSA attachment. If you have ELSA, you can see the adjustment procedure.

    Hi Crasher,

    Cheers, have removed the attachment.
I think I can see the procedure on there, but my question is shouldn't the whole bupmer be out of alignment, or would the arch bolts be enough to hold the bumper in place at the side even if the centre part is out of alignment?

I think I'll wait and see what Audi come back with tomorrow and take it from there.

    Cheers for your help

There is a small amount of slack on the bumper to wing studs but they tend to self align.

Now that I've got batteries in my camera I have taken a few piccies to show what I mean. Can't beat piccies!! And its the first ones I've actually taken of the car since I got it... really should have cleaned it first though!!

    DSCN2156.jpg

    DSCN2157.jpg

    DSCN2158.jpg

You can see the gap at the grille and next to the headlights but the bonnet is flush with the wings and the bumper is flush with the wings too!!

Should Audi be able to fix this? And should they have caused this in the first place by replacing the Grille??

    Cheers
