    Hi all

    my very first post

I have a 55 plate new shape passat and i'm trying to figure out how to change the head unit. I've managed to get a smart new panel to fit in the facia but how to get the old facia out is whats bugging me. I've had a trawl through the net but all the pics there show original units with slots for keys in the face of the unit. Only problem is my unit is smooth with no slots.

    Can anybody help?

    Cheers all

    ewan

    Hi Ewan

The surround around the radio pulls off to reveal some screws undo these and remove the radio - you will need the adaptor wiring as the new Pasats are not ISO fittings

Dont unplug this wire for the passenger airbag

    Hope this helps

    superb Guys

the fit was a doddle, only thing I didn't manage to find was the ignition wire so the unit has power all the time rather than switching off with the ignition - no great prob.

    Thanks again for the advice

    cheers

    Ewan

great pics - really helpful mate - do you know if the process is the same for the EOS? I've seen pics of how to get the Golf unit out but not for the EOS and I think the Passat is the closest match. Thanks.

Thanks for the response golfmk5gttdi, I was also really impressed with your instructions on the How To at https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=21273

There seems to be a difference between the eos and golf in that I don't have the extra vent at the top and there's no split in the stereo surround. I've taken a couple of pics that will hopefully show you what I mean ....

so I'm still struggling to work out the best way to get the stereo out.
    any tips?? thanks guys

Never done an Eos but by the looks of the pics the silver surround would pull off in much the same way as the Passat does then just remove the screws and pull the unit out.
