  1. Oil service light has come on, should I bother?...

    Hello,

I have been searching the forums for a good while, but cant seem to get the exact info I require.

I bought an R reg A4 1.6 petrol in october last year. It had around 95000 on the clock at the time. I had a guy who works for a local audi dealership change cambelts, do oil change, oil filters etc. I have now done just under 10000 miles since then and the oil service light has come on. Is this about the normal amount of miles before I do an oil change?

and also, on a car this age, does it really matter to do one?

apologies if these are newbie questions, but all new to car servicing...

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks very much daledenby.

I presume 10,000 miles is the magic number for an oil change?

Am I looking at around £100 with a local garage? (I presume I need to get filters etc. changed as well as the oil)

    many thanks,

Your Audi dealer will do it for around £100.A local garage will probably charge around half that.

    Hi there
It would be enough to replace oil at intermediate service and leave the filter to the next but as oil is the key element to engine life and done correctly 200k miles is nothing, I would do both and myself so I know whats in my engine! Does that make me a sad obsessive control freq?!
