wont reverse

wont reverse!! my 98 8v gti has now begun to jump out of reverse living on a one way street with a teeraced house means the gti is getting some stick in reverse it started jumping out at speed but now jumps out just at slow speed . does anyone know if this is a common problem on gti's or not or if its just mine does anyone know what gearbox type will be on an agg engine code 8v

hi, its not uncommon for a mk3 gearbox to go, if you can select reverse without problems but it wont stay in sounds like an internal fault, u could get hold of a decent second hand one through vw breakers, try stevens vw breakers, they can deliver and give warranty on second hand parts, iv used them and more than happy with them, just quote your agg engine code..... good look.
