Please could anyone offer some ideas as to why my V6 is mis-firing. I understand from what I have already read on other VW models that the problem could be in a number of areas but any help or advice will be greatfully recived. I know that if i don't get this problem fixed the potential knock on effects for the cat etc could be really expensive.

    Regards

Replace/swap the coils between the cylinders and see if its improving(please note witch piston they from-a marker will help !). Also its worth reading the fault codes as that will narrow the search a bit and post them on the forum. Could be something simple as a knock sensor(camshaft or krankshaft) or could be even coroded connectors to the injectors/ECU or a faulty injectors or the ECU itself. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. As a non Technical (well cars anyway) I do have a really good independent VW Audi specialist that Services my Passat and my wife's Audi but he still charges £42 / hr so diagnosing faults like this could take a while. Do you think even though he is an independent he will have all of the diagnostic gadgets that a dealership would (They are called VolksTec....based in Chalfont St. Giles)???
