    Hi,

I am expecting delivery of new Golf GT L TDi and plan to get the body properly prepared and detailed.

Can anyone tell me what condition I can expect the paintwork to be in after it has been prepared by the dealer?

Best bet is to not let them apply any of that sealant stuff they always sell. And get a good detail done after.

The paintwork is just like any others, nothing special or different from other manufacturers.

I'm a bit puzzled by your question, it will be the same as any other new car - clean and hopefully unblemished.

New car paint work is not what it should be. A good detail will make it look great.

Hi I dont now if anyone has had the same problem on my caddy van which has papricka red paint I find it very soft compared to other vans I have owned, just brushing past it with your coat zip can cause a slight scratch

I would probably look at getting some sort of coating on the paintwork to seal it.

    Thanks for the replies.

I discovered at end of May when we got a new Toyota Auris in met black that all dealers preparation standards are not the same. When my car was delivered almost every panel had what I would describe as either dealer or manufacturer induced swirls and light scuffs to the paintwork.

I arranged for a proper detail including clay, polish & wax and what a difference it has made to the finish and the car is so easy to keep clean.

After seeing the difference this has made to the Toyota, I was thinking about the same detailing to the Golf too, to give it a better finish and protection.

All cloths, and materials at the ready for a 3 bucket wash and detail.
