    Hi,

    I've got an 02 TD GTI 150.

All 4 shocks and springs were replaced at 30k (awsome GTI streetline kit - gas). Car has now done nearly 60k.

The handling is nowhere near what it used to be like. The car rolls \ pitches much more than it used to when going round corners \ roundabouts.

I always thought that this was the shocks going. But I talked to an independent VW service centre, and they said the shocks hardly ever go on golfs (100k). He said it could be the bushes?

New koni 40mm shocks and springs from Awsome GTI are 450inc vat fitted.
If it's not the shocks then I don't want to pay the above.

What else would members recommend replacing in order to get the handling back?

    Thanks.

I'll get the bushes replaced and take it from there.

Just out of interest was it the bushes that went?

The reason I ask is I have an 03 130bhp GT TDi & the car is rolling around corners & roundabouts, it feels liks I'm driving an ice cream van somedays!

The rear of the car feels very harsh when I drive over bumps so I have a feeling ti maybe time to replace my bushes.

I've not had them replaced yet.

I took the car in for an mot, and asked the guy to look at the bushes. They had not gone, but he said they felt softer than normal.

Phoned around for quotes, cheapest I could get was 450 inc vat to replace them all with poly bushes. The bushes cost next to nothing, it's the labour.

He also said my springs looked worn (?). I had mine replaced with some lowered ones from AwsomeGTI, and they have closer coils at the bottom than the top. The coils are hitting each other when the suspension compresses, resulting in flat spots on the coil.

So it could be that too.

Indeed. Would you mind telling us where you get the work done?

    Was it all the bushes?

    Thanks.
