My Golf GTI 2 litre has had a problem sice i brought it, everynow and then when i hit about 3000 revs it really judders and sounds like its misfiring,

when i brought the car i thought it was happening as the fuel was very low and perhaps some **** was blocking something, however i find it weird how its very random when it happens it doesnt matter how fast im going how warm the engine is and how much fuel is in the tank, however its always at 3000 revs, if i hit 3300 revs it seems normal again.

    any ideas?

not particually it happens whether theres 1 person in the car or if theres a full load, it also happens on flat surfaces and inclines and declines, now you mention it it pretty much always happens when i take the lads 2 football, [4 x 13ish stone men]

Sounds similar to what my '97 8v Gti was doing a while back. I had the Mass Air sensor changed and it hasn't done it since. Not saying this will be the cure for yours but it certainly helped mine.

It used to drive fine and then all of a sudden you would get a sudden drop in power/juddering then it would pick up again then do it again further on (I especially noticed this when going up hills more than on a flat road?) – very annoying!

    Hope this helps.

Well i think its defiantely worth mentioning to a mechanic and seeing what they think, thanks for your reply, just to add mins 16valve, I dont really liken mine to a drop in power it just sounds like its misfiring and then it really trys to pull through it but it acts like its a learner driver with poor clutch control, incedently when this happens if i stop the car and leave it idling it sounds like its idleing with difficulty [very inconsistant engine tone]
