    Hi everyone,

I am posting on my sisters behalf
She has a golf mk4, 1.4, done about 60k miles.

The problem she has got is that when she is stationary in the car, ie. at traffic lights etc, the car really judders. It does it both in neutral and when sitting in gear.
It used to do it when she was driving aswell but the oxygen sensor (posh name is lambda i think?) was replaced and it stopped doing it, although continued to do it whilst stationary.

Various mechanics have looked at it and cant find the problem and she is fed up with paying for parts that are making no difference to this problem -

It HAS had spark plugs changed, new HT lead and obviously the oxygen sensor which i mentioned previously.

VW have done a diagnostic scan and NOTHING has come up! so she is on the verge of paying them £200 just to do a full engine inspection to try and find the fault.

Any ideas on solving this please she is fed up!

    thanks,
    Cara

PS! Forgot to add, she also seems to think the car doesnt have as much 'pull' on it when pulling away, but doesnt know if she may be exagerating this as she has been driving her boyfs car recently which is quicker!!

    Come on someone, please?!!

VW have now looked at the car, and cannot find a fault but have diagnosed it as 'misfiring under 2000rpm'

What would cause this? As for VW to not even know is concerning!!!

    Thanks

yep could be the throttle body neads cleaning or could be dirty petrol maybe in the engine. But im sure if it were any of those vw would have mentioned it to you.

I dont know if VW would suggest cleaning the throttle body, would they??

All i know is she paid them £200 to do what they called a thorough engine inspection...
... but when she got the car back, there was no list of what they had/hadnt checked.
Simply that theyd carried out a compression test - Surely this cant be all that they done for £200!!
She is going to phone today and ask them exactly what they done for that money as she doesnt know what they have and havent looked at.. all she knows is the diagnostic scan showed no faults and the compression test suggested theres no engine problems, but I asked her to find out whether they looked at breather hoses etc as believe this can cause juddering.

    Thanks though!

I had the same problem as this and had my car into VW for nearly a year with various items being replaced. Mine always happened when I'd started the engine (not necessarily from cold) the car would start juddering and then lose power so I'd have to re-start the engine and then it would be fine, until the next time. Fortunately I was under warranty as they ended up replacing the turbo amongst other things, but in the end it was the throttle body.
