    I have just installed a VW Gamma radio/cassette into my Mk4 Golf. But I've found that the buttons don't all funtion properly, I can't set the pre-set radio stations for example. As new, the car had a VW Beta radio/cassette installed.

    Is the problem because it's wired for a VW Beta? And does anyone know a way around this??

    They are wired exactly the same. What exactly are your problems. Just the pre-sets or other things. A list of the exact faults may help highlight where your problem lies...

    like i say the red background lights up for the buttons but as for the lcd dos not , when i press any buttons it still dos not show anything on the lcd. ps the 10amp fuse in the back of the unit is ok

    This would have nothing to do with the wiring... Possibly a faulty head unit?

    ok can the head unit be repaired or just bin the unit ? or even just pull it to bits to see if there any damage to it ?

    Its not very economical to repair it... You might as well get a 2nd hand unit off eBay.

    Are you after a cd version?
    If so just search for "vw gamma cd" the gamma is meant to be better than the beta.
    Before you look on eBay look in the "for sale" section of the forum because there is always people selling one:

    as it is its a rad/cass , and the car posh and prob get a smashed windowif it had a cd player lol.

    lol Where are you from again!? he he

    I left my window fully open the other night at work for about 3 hours... Baring in mind I work nights and the car was parked in the middle of an industrial estate I am supprised no one took any of my audio stuff!
