Hello again everyone, recently ive come into abit of money, and after a talk with my brother he suggested possibly a supercharger,

    I have the 1.8 GTI non-turbo.

Firstly, is this possible? and second, any idea on where and how much it would cost?

    Thanks again everyone

If you've come into money surely it would be more cost-effective just to sell your car and buy a GTI-Turbo?

You'll be lucky to see change from 3 grand, thats a bare minimum figure if you can do some of the spannering yourself. Doesnt include uprated clutch/brakes/suspension which you'll need.

Not many kits about for 4 cylinder engines, most development is for the V6 engine.

if you have 15 hundred, you may well still be able to change up to something quicker.
whats wrong with a 130 tdi?
why do you go for a supercharger rather than a turbo?
in all honesty, a super charger is pie in the sky.
stick with what you have until you can change up.
    regards,
    stewy.

Anything is possible given enough money. Think of all the parts you need though, manifolds, exhaust, turbo, intercooler, clutch, ECU change/remap. then you've got to try and insure it - it will be more expensive to insure when compared with a factory built turbo.

Its by no means impossible to do, but why build a car you can buy? You would also affect the resale value of your car, why would anyone buy one you have turbo'd when they could buy a proper factory GTi turbo instead?

there are a few 3dr black, low mileage GTi turbo's on autotrader for under 6k.

Its just not financially viable, There are plenty

Not trying to put you off at all, just look at the sums. If you spend 2-3k turbo-ing your car then will it add 2-3k to its value? Certainly not.

Yea true, you have a point, well worth considering looking for a gti turbo then, have to put some deep thought into it lol.

i didnt relise that much went into it, i thought the non turbo GTI was exactly the same as the turbo - Excluding the turbo obviously, i didnt relise they had different exhausts, clutch's etc from each other.

    Thanks for all the comments
