I'm thinking of adding a centre arm rest to the front of my Golf, since it's currently lacking one. Is this difficult? I've seen different kits on ebay. Some seem to just be the top part of the rest, some seem to be entire bolt on moving arm rest things. What kind of kit is correct? Is it available from VW?

    I found this online:
    http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog...t_product=1773
Seems a bit much though doesn't it? Or is that what I'm looking at for a proper fit?

I've done it, it was a little bit tricky but well worth it. I got the parts from http://www.vagparts.co.uk/

And under their website the armrest is found by following:

Catalogue overview >>> VW >>> Golf MK5 / Jetta >>> Interior >>> Retro fit Armrest and Cup holder

I also got the sliding cup holder on that page as i was taking it apart! Well worth it!

Hi, I fitted my genuine golf mk5 arm rest kit today (an Ebay find). Really makes a difference to the interior and well worth buying a genuine one if you can because some of the after market kits look a bit out of place. It only took me about 45mins once I'd found the right tool for the job! One or two of the screws are a little hard to get to if but you can easily undo pieces of trim to gain access.
    Well worth the effort.

Sounds good. Do you have any pictures of the finished job?

Will be adding some pictures of my car soon when I get a chance and will do a couple of the centre console too. Basically it looks and functions like any factory fitted arm rest apart from the rear air vents which are not functioning at the moment because you need to buy special air ducts to carry the air through to the back. Think they cost about £25.

Glad I picked the genuine arm rest for my car.

Heres a link for an item identical to the one I bought.
