Our 2001 1.6S Bora developed a very worrying knocking noise from the rear offside wheel assembly. A quick stripdown revealed that the top 4" of the rear spring had sheered off, causing the top of the spring to come out of the rubber mounting. It is a clean sheer through the spring - no rust on it at all. Can't imagine how that happened.

Anyway, question is does anyone have a pair of rear springs they might be willing to swap for a few beer vouchers? How about all you guys who have ditched the original springs for some lowered / sports stuff? Anyone got a pair lying around? I'd hate to line VW's pockets!
