    Hi all,

    I have a 2001 A4 tdi 1.9

The car vibrates a bit more than one would expect when idling(although the rev needle remains very still), but this smooths out if I switch on the aircon fan. Is this idling setting or maybe a mounting issue?? also when I hit 140km per hour.....naughty I know....it vibrates slightly. I have done wheel balancing and still the same thing.

    cheers guys
    Saffer

ps. its 27degrees in Durban today and im just off to the beach

When you say turn the AC on???

do you mean press the ECON button to turn the aircon off?? (so the Red LED is on??)

Is this a B5 or B6 as it changed in 2001..

Also 140KM is not naughty......... i tend to say just under 90-100mph... which is about 160KM.... unless its a very clear bit of motorway...... i have had it up to 135MPH (217KM) but then bottled it... ...
    Obviously on a private track.................

    Hey Rick,

Thanks for the reply, ill have to check the B5/B6 issue. When I put aircon on (not econ) and take the fan up to about 3 or 4 of the "bars" you see on fan strength displaythe vibration stops. I tend to think it is not idling issue as I said the rev needle is very stable. Do you think its a mounting bracket or something

Have been up to 270kph but that was a M3 CSL driven by a mate who is a race driver.....scary stuff

    Cheers

I mite be incorrect on this but i think your Air Filter may need cleaning out...

I had the problem in my Golf that the cars Idle meter jumped ever so slightly making car bounce...

Im sorry if this aint helped.

Air filter wont make it run rough... unless it complety blocked...

Start off by doing a quick simple service... Air filter, oil Filter, Oil,

also... im thinking it could be B5 as the B6 does not have a button which say AIRCON or A/C

    Is yours like this... B5
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-A3-A4-CLI...ayphotohosting

    or like this B6..
