Hi guys, new to the forum but been reading it since i got my A3 last december.

My A3 has been great since i brought it, but one thing has bothered me, everytime a go over a speed hump or just bad road surface the front axle doesnt sound as 'solid' as i think it ought to. Almost as if its loose?!?

I reported it to the Audi dealer the first time and they said that the rear shocks needed changing and it was a common fault, that was done under warranty no probs but the front still hasnt sounded 'solid'.

Its going in for a service tomorrow as i've racked up the milage since having it and have asked them to check again but i always get the same response that they can never reproduce it!!

Has anyone got any ideas what it could be? I have read about a knocking noise from the front when stearing which isnt happening.Mine is only when i go over a bump with the wheels straight.

    Thanks

Agree on the anti-roll bar bushes, just done mine, also check the drop links too, another weak spot on the A3.

Agreed, front anti roll bar corroded under the bushes is the most likely cause, this is a very common problem on modern VAG products. Another problem I come across that sounds like it is from the front is the rear axle bushes, strange but true.
