    Hi,

    First post - be gentle.

I'm curious about how many miles per tank people are getting on their 140BHP diesel passats - new model. I've got a 2.0TDI Sport which was regularly getting 675-700 miles per tank, then dropped (for a period of about 5 months) to doing 630ish, now it's getting better again. The dealers tell me theres nothing wrong with the engine, but I've read a few posts about cambelt timings.

Any ideas. In theory, should be able to get much more than 700 miles out of a 70litre tank.

    Steve

I have a Tdi 140 Sport with the DSG box. My consumption has increased - I was getting around 44 mpg in mixed driving - now down to about 38-39mpg. A friend has a manual A4 with the 140 engine and in 13,000 miles has averaged 53 mpg - Passat I'm guessing is heavier and I know that the DSG uses more fuel. My car was in for a service last week and I asked them to look into it - as far as I know they found nothing.

Thanks for the info. Perhaps I'm not doing too badly after all if I can get .

Still VW says the car can do 56 mpg out of town. If I only do out of town driving (which I do during the week - up and down the Fosse way), why don't I get anywhere near 15.4 x 56 mpg = 862 miles/tank.

I thought that the tank capacity was 60 litres - I haven't checked and I may be mistaken.

one thing to add.... im not sure if here in the UK does it... but Winter Diesel is provided in the winter months which you tend to lose a little MPG off it...

I know in the states this was the reason for the lost of MPG..

Any one confirm if the UK does it?
