just bought a used 2007 B6 Variant and it was missing a spare. Luckily the dealer I bought it from was kind and gave me a matching Alloy of same size as the rest but I'm wondering what else is missing. I only have the jack, a lug wrench, a cap remover and star nut for the locking lug. Am I missing anything else from my hatch that I should think about getting? warning triangle, trunk monkey etc? what comes standard equipment back there?

Not wishing to be negative, but the spare should be the same alloy as the others. My passat came with full size spare alloy, but my Golf only a space saver??!!

I think you now have a complete kit in there. There is space for the removable towbar and the warning triangle is sadly an extra.

IIRC there's also a philips-type screwdriver or similar; I can't quite recall its exact function, but I think the idea is that it's required to get the wheel off, but I also seem to recall that it could be done without it.

As well as the tool kit I also got a white waterproof jacket, a bag for putting in the punctured wheel and a small mat to kneel on.

My estate has a warning triangle hidden in a compartment on the inside of the rear door behind the number plate - not in the spare wheel section.

Had a look in the manual tonight( ) and there should be a hexagonal screwdriver (but perhaps all models/wheels aren't the same) which is used for getting the wheel nuts off after they've been slackened by the wrench. However, IIRC that the one time I had a wheel off I just spun the wrench the wrench when the wheel was off the ground to get the nuts off, and the screwdriver seemed a bit pointless.

Another item in this part of the boot with the items listed earlier is the screw-in tow lug. Had to use that when my fuel pump went and I had to be dragged onto the back of a recovery truck

Mine's also got a hook to remove the nut caps. The hexagonal screwdriver 'handle' is probably to wind the nuts off to avoid damaging the alloy wheels with the wrench when the nuts arrive at the end of their thread.

I was also given a set of replacement lights bulbs.

I also carry a small mat to kneel on (nothing to do with religion!), and a hi-vis jacket, which is about to become obligatory here, if it isn't already. The triangle is also obligatory, so I bought a VW one and fitted it into the space in the boot lid with a couple of straps.

It's ludicrous that I was 'given' the bulb set, which it is obligatory to carry, but not the triangle!

Re: All the little extra bits you lot got makes me feel left out.
I didnt get a warning triangle as "they dont come with uk models".. didnt sound likely but as I had 5 already I didnt bother.
    Bulbs...yes one set, already fitted
    Oil ..only that inside engine
Mats, bags for flat tyres, etc, well they must have forgotten me.
Perhaps I swapped them for the rather too lengthy course on how to close the bonnet, warnings about the need to top up the oil, how to start the engine, open boot, etc etc

When my wife bought her 9 month old fiesta, all it had in the boot was a mars bar wrapper, so us passat drivers are far better off
