Power Loss

Hi Everyone, For a while in 1st gear I'm seem to be getting a bit of power loss it is even worse if there is a slight hill. When I took the car to get it's MOT the garage says there seems to be a lot of power loss in all gears and said the problem would be the air flow meter.
I changed the air flow meter and no difference, then changed the spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter which all made a slight difference but not a lot. Tyred using fuel injector cleaner but no difference.
The garage said the turbo basket might need cleaning. But can't find anything on how to do it.
Has anyone had this problem on the 1.8T AEB engine.
My A6 98 has done 110000 miles is there anything that needs doing at being ten years old and with the miles it has done.

I've got an A3 1.9TDI and was experiencing power loss at around 60mph whereby the car was going into limp mode until i reset the ignition. Changed the MAF and another valve (£200) was a bit better but fault came in at 70mph. One month later the turbo went, threw oil into my exhaust and smoke everywhere, in the garage now and I've been quoted £1200 - £1500 for a recon turbo and new exhaust system. Its only done 74K. Be careful using fuel injector cleaners cos I think they can dislodge carbon that can end up getting thrown into the turbo.
Probably not what you wanted to hear but thought I'd share it with you. In other words get it seen to asap and don't leave it hoping it will fix itself like I did!!!
