Hi all,

I have a 97 P plate Audi A3 Sport and the drivers/right hand-side side light is switched on constantly (i.e. the light warning noise comes on as soon as the key is removed from the ignition). The only way I can prevent this from happening is to remove the right-hand side lights fuse to break the circuit. This problem started with the light switching itself on in the middle of the night resulting in me discovering the problem in the morning as I went to get into the car, and the lights-on warning noise as soon as I opened the door.

This sounds like an earthing problem to me as the interior display (heater controls, dash, etc.) is also playing up resulting in it appearing to be receiving full current (and hence is always at full brightness) regardless of the setting on the brightness adjuster dial. The AM radio signal also seems to be affected. If it is an earthing problem how do I find the earthing points on the car?

Please could anyone help me to shed any light on this as it is driving me bonkers! The brake lights also only work intermittently but I believe this could be bad luck coming in threes and be a dead brake light switch.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance, kind regards,
Andy
