This is going to make me look really stupid but I hope it will stop others making the same mistake.

When we spec'd up my wifes Passat we paid the tiny amount extra for the tyre pressure monitor.
8 months into ownership and I realised that I hadn't checked the tyre pressures. My reason being the alarm has not sounded. Anyway checked th epressure and found all 4 tyres to be at 1.8 bar against the min of 2.3 bar.

On reading the manual again I realised that the cheap monitor works off the ABS sensors and only alarm if one tyre is different from the others!
On ours all 4 tyres must have gone down at the same rate.

So if you have the sensors you still need to check the pressures yourself. Of course you probably all ready knew that.

    Now for my punishment exercise...

    I must read the manual.

    I must read the manual.

    I must read the manual.

    I must read the manual.

    ........

I hope you realise you'll then be expected to answer all the 'How do I .....?' questions from those of us who haven't bothered
