Clicking noise 2.5 tdi

Hi
This is a strange one. When driving have a clicking noise(ratcet noise) when steering is turned on left hand down , but ok when wheels are straight. Also a slight rumbling noise from engine, but car drives all ok. Any advice?

I had this on my 2.5TDi which at the time had 132K on the clock.
It did it on both sides on full lock.
2 new drive shafts sorted that out.Check out the usual aftermarket suppliers, its not that expensive.
With highish mileage and big heavy front end I wouldnt have thought it was to uncommon a problem.
